Furious

This morning, the Wall Street Journal released a story about Steve Jobs online essay about DRM released yesterday. The byline reads:
Apple Chief Now Favors Making Downloads of Songs Freely Tradeable
This is gross negligence and misrepresentation from one of the most "reputable" newspapers around.

Nowhere in Steve Jobs essay does he speak of "favoring making songs easy to trade" or of removing DRM for the purpose of sharing music or trading it freely. This is a ridiculous posit to make.

He DOES say that DRM is bad for the consumer, and bad for technology companies who are forced to implement rights management by music labels. And he is right. As I've said before, DRM punishes the honest more than it poses any deterrent for the dishonest.

It makes me furious to see such statements in a publication like the WSJ.
