The Funny Thing About Dreams
While my blog more often than not tends to be about technology and the entertainment business and my opinion of things orbiting that world, today is a bit different just because.. just because.
In your young adult years, maybe 18 to your mid-20's, your dreams are what seperate you, in your own mind, from everyone else. That you find the wherewithal to pick up and follow those dreams marks the next stage of that.
What I didn't realize until now, was that your dreams change as the years go by. Not in any way becoming lesser dreams.
I dreamed of Hollywood, and the film business. Almost a decade here has gone by - and I have accomplished a few things I'm proud of. I continue to be engaged in the business in really interesting ways - and not "fringy" indie ways either. I've been a studio and network and independent guy the whole way along. I took that plunge and went after it. I still don't know how it's all going to pan out, really, but I will never have the regret that I didn't try. I know my business pretty darn well, and am glad to have had the experiences I have.
But dreams change. And sometimes, other people's dreams even become more important than your own. I'm still waiting, and watching, and letting it all unfold as it will... but I'll tell you, there's some amazing things you can accomplish in life without fame and fortune.
